What is MOTS-c?

MOTS-C is a naturally occurring mitochondrial peptide that helps regulate how the body produces and uses energy. It plays a key role in supporting healthy metabolism, improving the way cells use glucose and fatty acids for fuel, and enhancing the body’s ability to respond to physical and metabolic stress. Because MOTS-C works at the cellular level, many people experience improved stamina, more stable daily energy, and better overall metabolic balance. This peptide is administered as a subcutaneous injection and is most effective when combined with consistent nutrition, physical activity, and recovery habits.

    Occasional dizziness

If symptoms persist or worsen, contact your Iowa IV provider.MOTS-c

    Is MOTS-C therapy safe?

MOTS-C is considered safe and well tolerated when used under medical supervision. It supports natural metabolic pathways and does not alter hormone levels or create dependency. This therapy should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Always discuss your medical history, medications, and health goals with your provider before starting therapy.

    How does MOTS-C work?

MOTS-C helps activate metabolic pathways that regulate energy use and fuel balance in the body. It increases glucose uptake, improves fat utilization, and enhances mitochondrial efficiency, which is how cells convert nutrients into energy. By supporting healthier energy production, MOTS-C helps maintain stable metabolism, increase endurance, and improve resilience to physical and metabolic stress.

    What to Expect Over Time

    Weeks 1–4:

    Subtle improvements in daytime energy

Early metabolic balance and reduced fatigue fluctuations

    Weeks 4–8:

More noticeable improvements in stamina and physical endurance

Enhanced post-exercise recovery and mitochondrial efficiency

    Weeks 8–12+:

    Metabolic resilience becomes more noticeable

Continued improvements in endurance, energy stability, and overall vitality

Results vary based on age, baseline metabolic function, and consistency of use.

How to Make MOTS-C Therapy More Effective

MOTS-C works best when it is part of a coordinated metabolic plan. You can improve overall results by pairing the peptide with balanced nutrition, regular movement, and consistent daily habits. This therapy is also more effective when combined with Tesamorelin and Ipamorelin. Tesamorelin supports natural growth hormone release, which enhances fat metabolism, recovery, and body composition. Ipamorelin provides steady growth-hormone support without overstimulation, helping improve protein synthesis, tissue repair, and energy balance. When MOTS-C is paired with these peptides, you receive both mitochondrial support and optimized growth-hormone signaling, creating a stronger and more predictable improvement in metabolism, fat reduction, and overall physical performance.

    How to Give an Injection

    1. Clean your hands

Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds. Make sure to clean between the fingers, the backs of your hands, wrists, fingernails, and under the nails.

    2. Gather the supplies you need

Make sure you have a clear and clean counter space to place all of the following supplies:

    • The needle and syringe with the medication or the auto-injector pen. You should always double-checkthat you have the correct medication and dose prepared.
    • Alcohol pads to clean the area where you will give the injection. Usually one is more than enough to clean but it is always good to have an extra in case you drop it.
    • A band-aid or bandage in case you want to cover the area where the injection was given.

    3. Find a spot and clean it

There are certain spots on your body where subcutaneous injections should be given. These tend to be places where you can easily access the subcutaneous (fatty areas) under the skin and the needle will not come too close to muscle or bone. The best site is:

    • The lower part of your belly. Keep in mind you want to stay 2 inches away from your belly button. Some people have more subcutaneous tissue than others. It is important to find a spot where you are able to pinch the skin away from your body. You also want to choose a spot that is not reddened or hard. Change where you give your injection each time. Once you have chosen a site, use the alcohol swab/wipe to clean it. Let the alcohol dry on its own, do not blow on it or wipe away the alcohol.

    4. Inject the medication

You may not be a pro the first time you give yourself a subcutaneous injection. Your hands may be shaky and you may be nervous. Take a few deep breaths - it will get easier the more times you do it. Find what works for you. In general:

    • Take your thumb and index (pointer) finger and pinch the skin. Lift the skin away from your body. Pinching and pulling gently will pull the subcutaneous tissue away from the muscle.
    • Remove any safety device from the needle. Poke the needle straight into the skin you are pinching. The needle can be inserted at a 90-degree angle (straight in, somewhat like a dart) or at a 45-degree angle.
    • While keeping the skin pinched, slowly push the plunger on the syringe to push the medication into your subcutaneous tissue.
    • Once all of the medication goes in you can stop pinching the skin and take the needle out.
    • Dispose of syringe after use.
    • You can put a band-aid or bandage on the site if it bleeds.
    • You may have some bruising.
    • Remember to alternate sites

    How Does IV Hydration Work?

We provide fluids and nutrients from a pharmacy that we administer through a catheter in your arm into your veins. IVs work by rapidly replenishing fluids, electrolytes and vitamins. An IV delivers 100% of the ingredients directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the gastrointestinal tract, which both slows absorption and diminishes the potency of the ingredients.

    Are IVs Safe?

Yes! Our nurses and medics are the best at what they do, and our clinic provides a clean, sterile, comfortable and safe environment. We use the same fluids, medications and equipment that are used at the best hospitals.

    How Long Does It Take?

In general, for most patients, IV therapy takes 30-45 minutes from start to finish.

    What Are the Benefits?

It depends on the IV infusion you choose, but it will rehydrate you, energize you, eliminate cramping and soreness, increase mental clarity, stop nausea and vomiting, stop migraines, strengthen your immune system, and make you feel better overall. IV therapy can also improve the appearance of your hair, skin and nails; flush and detoxify your system; protect your kidneys; help with metabolism and maximizing bodily functions; increase circulatory volume; increase energy; and improve wellness and the feeling of well-being overall. The effects of an infusion last for about five days.

How Is It Better Than Water?

Water is free-fluid, meaning that it does not have electrolytes in it. Also, water has to be absorbed through your digestive tract, so it takes time for water to restore your fluid balance. IV fluids go directly into your bloodstream and contain necessary electrolytes to replace what you have lost.

    Do You Take Insurance?

We do not accept private insurance, Medicare or Medicaid. However, our treatments are generally far less expensive than most co-pays, especially if you have not yet met your deductible for the year. We do, however, accept FSA and HSA accounts. (Your HSA and FSA account may refuse to reimburse. Confirm with them first; we offer no refunds if they do not.)

    Do I Need an Appointment?

Appointments are not necessary, but they are highly recommended, especially on weekends. One of our goals is to get you feeling better as quickly as possible, and by making an appointment, you ensure minimal to no waiting time. This gets you in and out as quickly as possible, so you can get on with your busy life.

    Are There Any Side Effects?

Side effects are usually minor and short-lived. They include bruising, bleeding from the site and soreness. These are easily avoided by holding direct pressure after removal of the IV. Other far less common side effects include risk of infection and anaphylaxis, an extremely rare allergic reaction. Our highly trained medical professionals are well-versed in diagnosing and treating any and all possible side effects.

Does It Hurt To Get an IV?

Typically no. Depending on your preference, we can start the IV without any numbing medicine or with a numbing spray that completely numbs the area so you don’t feel a thing!

Can Pregnant Women Get an IV?

We will administer fluids to women in their 1st and 2nd trimester, with a note from their health care provider and approval from our medical director. We recommend that you seek treatment in your 3rd trimester with your OB/midwife for any hydration or medication needs.

    Can Minors Get an IV?

We will administer to minors ages 14-17, with a prescription from their health care provider and approval from our medical director. Parent(s) must be present for infusion.
